Trattoria Dopo Teatro, an enchanting restaurant in the heart of Times Square, is celebrating spring with the expansion of its glorious "Secret Garden". Known for its authenticity – in decor, service and cuisine, Trattoria Dopo Teatro offers an unforgettable and transporting dining experience for New Yorkers and visitors alike.

Owner and architect, Emilio Barletta (Zanzibar, Cascina) created the exquisite Trattoria Dopo Teatro from an expansive, high-ceilinged 1878 landmark space. But the restaurant’s subterranean treasures make this charming spot even more compelling. Past the 24-foot antique oak bar, through the golden-hued dining room hung with vintage Italian film stills, and down the terra cotta stairway, lies the skylit Secret Garden. Recently expanded to accommodate more tables and more diners, the fresh, open and eternally spring-like Secret Garden is an entire world unto itself and one of New York’s hidden treasures. A stone waterfall provides the dramatic backdrop for one of the city’s most beautiful interior gardens. Skilled craftsmen carried out elaborate designs with hand-painted Italian tiles on café tables and on the unique and colorful mosaic floors.

French doors lead into additional discoveries around the Secret Garden. To one side of the center courtyard is the American Room with its wonderful frescos and festive atmosphere, separate bar, piano, and walk-in humidor featuring a wide selection of fine cigars. To the other side is the Wine Cellar and Grappa Library. The Wine Cellar, a large dining room which seats 100 and houses a collection of over one-hundred wines, features long wood tables and carved wood chairs. Grand and spacious, the room has a warm family feeling and can accommodate large parties. For the most private dinners and meetings, the intimate and masculine wood-paneled Grappa Library displaying exotic bottles of grappa in all shapes and sizes on sparkling glass shelves, is a tucked- away spot which seats 16 at a big, round table.

Trattoria Dopo Teatro’s menu featuring recipes from all the regions of Italy, offers both classic and updated dishes notable both for the simplicity of the preparations and quality of the ingredients. Favorite menu items range from appetizers like shrimp with Tuscan beans and radicchio to elegant pizzettes of buffalo mozzarella and white truffle oil, homemade pastas like the white truffle-flavored veal ravioli with diced sage in a light butter sauce, and entrees like pan seared striped bass with eggplant and artichokes in a tomato, oregano and black olive sauce, and grilled rack of lamb served with herb potatoes and shiitake mushrooms.

Trattoria Dopo Teatro and The Secret Garden, Wine Cellar, The American Room, and Grappa Library are available for private parties and special events. The entire restaurant can accommodate parties of up to 310 people.
